Dearest God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, Thank you so much for loving us and allowing us to celebrate our thankfulness with family and friends during this Thanksgiving season.
As we enter the last quarter of the 400th anniversary of our African ancestors being forcibly brought to enslavement in North America, here are my suggestions for 2020 and beyond:

It's been 50 years since Shirley Chisholm was elected to the U.S. Congress and took Washington, DC by storm. A lot of men didn't know quite what to do with her. She was the first Black Congresswoman and she made such a splash that many women were listening and were inspired to run not only for Congress, but for all kinds of offices to serve the people. When I ran for Congress in Louisiana, she was one of the first persons to send a check.

One thing that I've noticed as of late is that more and more people are beginning to reach their breaking point. They're going through something significant in their lives or their dealing with some type of major challenge.
Pretending is something we probably all did as kids. For me, it was a way to have fun and escape to my "happy place."
