Congratulations to the Boston Celtics. Congratulations to Xavier Tillman Sr. on getting a NBA championship ring. Congratulations to Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown for making the talking heads eat some crow. Game on. Congratulations to the NBA for letting the players and their families share in the celebration during the presentation of the trophy.Congratulations to all the players who were able to hold their children and watch them while they celebrated. Congratulations to the talking heads who TOLD me to bet on the Celtics.No congratulations to me for not listening while I lost money on Dallas. No congratulations for me as I sleep standing up because my butt hurts from the whipping I took for not listening to good advice. The Boston Celtics put on a clinic on team play. This was an exhibition of passing, shooting, defense, offense and kicking egos and pouting to the curb. This was a joy to watch even though I lost money, money and more money. If you as a player who wants more court time and you are not spending time on your shooting skills then you are doing a disservice to your staying time in the NBA. For all the players who look at playing defense as a disease to avoid, well time for another opinion from those NBA doctors. Unless your offense game is world class and can withstand the evil eyes of the coaches, teammates, fans and talking heads, then you need to read every chapter from the Boston Celtics book on defense to step your game up. The game hadn't been over for a second before the experts had the Celtics penciled in to win another title next season. Here I go again as I shall not be getting in line to board that bus. Boston has the right stuff to win again, but will they have that same hunger to withstand those new kids on the block who have empty plates. I do remember a couple of months ago when the experts told me that Denver, then Minnesota were the next best thing to be crowned, NBA, King of the Hill.Heck, some even see the Lakers with LeBron and Bronny making bringing home the top honors. After I save myself a couple of dead presidents for next year's NBA season, I plan to look hard at the New York Knicks. Yea, I hear you and the experts laughing at a brother, but he who laughs last, laughs best.
Are we now getting the best from the WNBA with a GREAT rivalry between Caitlin and Angel? Every time Indiana and Chicago play, ticket prices soar, new fans make the move to be at the event, TV ratings increase and money keeps rolling, rolling, rolling in for more people. Now, it wouldn't hurt the WNBA if they could get more rivals to enter the we just love Caitlin, (fake, fake, fake), but given the chance we are going to break her neck and call it a basketball play storyline.In all my years of playing basketball I have never hit anyone in the head as I tried to block their shot from behind. I shall not call Ms. Angel Reese a liar when she said she wasn't trying to hit Caitlin in the head as it was just a basketball play. I do know that the stakes were raised to bring more attention to the WNBA' soap opera version of us against Caitlin. Also if Angel gives me sugar, I will taste first to check to see it isn't salt. Angel has nice skills which will help her team down the road towards being good. It would be a shame for her to be known as Angel the Terrible.Still, we have more people to talk about and to watch more of the WNBA thanks to the drama about the making and breaking of Caitlin Clark.
Would I be selfish if I said that it might be time for Tiger Woods to think about playing on the Senior Tour and leave these young guys on the tour alone.
Tiger's body and 18 holes of golf is becoming painful to watch as we keep waiting and hoping for that old young Tiger to return to form. Tiger still has game, but that Tiger game that we remembered and loved is buried deep in the sand and out of bound among the trees.I want to see Tiger win, but it is fading and hooking away like 95 percent of my golf shots. Oh well, I still can hope.
