Emmanuel Hospice Calls For Volunteers From The Greater Grand Rapids Area
Emmanuel Hospice Calls for Volunteers from Greater Grand Rapids Area Grand Rapids, Michigan, April 4, 2024 – Emmanuel Hospice is looking for volunteers in the greater Grand Rapids area to provide companionship and support to patients.
The organization is in particular need of volunteers in the northern regions of the metropolitan area, specifically from Belmont, Greenville, Rockford and Sparta. Volunteers from Holland are also needed to support patients residing near the lakeshore.
Volunteers serve Emmanuel Hospice in many ways, including making bereavement calls, capturing patient's life stories, supporting office needs and providing companionship with certified pet visitors. Other volunteer opportunities include assisting with community outreach, knitting, card-making and patient/family support. "Volunteers are essential to our mission of providing exceptional end-of-life care," Volunteer Coordinator Holly Salas said. "They help bring moments of comfort, joy and dignity to help our patients focus on living life to the fullest while in hospice care. We're looking for people who have a heart for supporting others during particularly challenging times."
Emmanuel Hospice is dedicated to matching the unique skills and interests of prospective volunteers with the right opportunity, ensuring each volunteer receives a tailored area of assignment. Volunteers must first undergo a criminal background check and screening for tuberculosis. They will then complete a self-paced six-hour course of online study to familiarize themselves with hospice care and end-of-life issues. Those interested are encouraged to email or call 616.719.0919 and ask for Holly. More information about volunteer opportunities can be found at EmmanuelHospice.org/volunteer
