Blue Lives Matter To GOP, Until They Don't!
Republicans for years have prided themselves as the party of law and order, the party that loves the Blue. Where was that love for the four law enforcement officers testifying before Congress and the nation? These brave men gave gut-wrenching accounts of the horrific encounters they endured at the hands of Trump supporters who were nothing more than domestic terrorists! These would-be insurrectionists, were on a mission to stop a legitimate constitutional process to validate Electoral College votes for a peaceful transfer of power, as is our custom. "Stop the Steal" was their rallying cry put in their heads by Trump and his cultists in and out of Congress!
Why did Republicans flip the script from love the Blue, to truck the Blue? Truck is not the word I want to use! It's really simple, Republicans who support the dear "Orange Leader" like Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and Kevin McCarthy, dare not support the accounts of Jan. 6th by these four officers. They care nothing about the truth or our democracy, it's all about hanging on to power and supporting the Big Lie. Do you remember the song "Super Fly" by Curtis Mayfield from 1972? There are lyrics that say, "Can't reason with the pusher man, finance is all that he understands". For these democracy-destroying- Republicans, you can't reason with them because power is all that THEY understand! Trump's GOP must downplay what happened on Jan. 6th in order to try to protect his Orangeness, but they can't. You and I have eyes and ears, we saw and heard the TRUTH in real time on that day!
Of course, the Republican talking heads like Laura Ingraham and Greg Gutfeld of Fox News, to name a few, mocked the officers. They called the sincere tearful reactions of Adam Kinzinger and Adam Schiff, "A performance". Ingraham gave mock awards to Kinzinger and Schiff, "Best use of tears and dramatic pauses in a leading role." She went on to further shame herself with more mockery of the four officers, showing the nation and the world exactly what the GOP has devolved into, a Trump cult! Republicans don't want the truth to come out, that's why McCarthy wanted Jim Jordan on the committee to be a disruptor and turn it into a spit show, again, not the word I really want to use. Speaker Pelosi saw through that attempt at sabotage and said no to the Trump boot-licker!
When the truth and all the truth, comes out, certain Republicans might be facing jail time for their participation. All of this so they can be reelected, what shallow human-beings! They are so not in to what is best for the country, that when asked if they watched the hearing, noted Republicans said no! Mitch McConnell, when asked if he watched said, "I was busy with work, I serve in the Senate". McCarthy said he didn't watch the hearing, he was busy, that tells you all you need to know, doesn't it?
In true GOP form, Jan 6th was the Dems fault and Capital Police's fault according to Republicans. Because Capital Police were outnumbered, it was their fault that they didn't have sufficient man-power to quell the mob. I agree communication between agencies got lost somewhere, social media had been talking about this, days prior to Jan. 6th. While that debate can be had, the main points are this. This was not a "love fest" as Trump proclaimed, it was a full-fledged riot! It was not a spur of the moment thing, it was organized, so who organized it? Who told the mob to come to Washington for something that was going to be wild? Yeah, Donald J. Trump!
Blaming the Dems and the Capital Police for what happened is like an arsonist setting a house on fire and then blaming the fire dept. for not putting it out. Blue Lives matter to Republicans when it's in their interests for them to matter. You police officers out there, you saw and heard, how the GOP threw your "Brothers in Blue" under the bus, didn't you? They love you as long as it benefits them to do so! They play on your fears of Black and Brown people are bad. What you witnessed last week in front of Congress is Republicans being true to who they really are, an opportunistic bunch of White guys concerned with keeping power. Keeping power by any means necessary including using you, the "Blue" if they have too! Do you still feel Republicans really care about you?
