Wesley A. Jones Passes
Friends and family remember Wesley Jones for his kindness, loyalty and sense of humor. In West Michigan, he is recognized for his expertise in construction and engineering. He is known for his construction projects at Spectrum Health, GVSU and EPCOT Center at Walt Disney World just to name a few.
He was devoted to the Prince Hall Grand Lodge Masons. Brother Jones masonic tenure spanned 54 years, continuously and served in the highest office of the masonic fraternity in the State of Michigan, that of Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of Michigan in the years 1983 – 1984. At the time of his passing, he was the most senior past Grand Master of Prince Hall Masons in the State of Michigan.
In 2008, Wes received the William Glenn Trailblazer Award at the Giants Awards banquet at GRCC.
Wes was born in Ottawa County, Michigan on September 13, 1936 to Arthur and Edith Jones. He was the oldest with one brother, Dr. David Jones and sisters Charlotte Jones and Karene Edith Moore.
On January 9, 1988 he married his beautiful wife, Lynne R. Irons.
Wesley passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 2, 2021 after a brief illness. Wesley is survived by his children William (Terri) Jones, Debra Jones and Valinda Stokes, stepchildren Tommi Valentino, Lisa (Terry) Davenport and Brian Williamson, eight grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. Wes is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lynne and sister Charlotte.
Services are being provided by Brown's Funeral Home at 627 Jefferson Ave SE. The viewing will be Monday, May 10 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. at Brown's Funeral Home.
The Scottish Rite Service will follow at 6:00 pm on Monday.
On Tuesday, May 12, the family hour will be at 11:00. The funeral will begin at 12:00 noon at Brown's Funeral Home. For those who are unable to attend the funeral, there will be a link to stream the funeral online. Visit Brown's Funeral Home website at brownsfuneralhomeltd.com.
Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery. The repass will take place at the Grand Rapids Mason Lodge located at 233 E Fulton St following the burial.
Wesley will be greatly missed by family, friends and many others in the community that have had the opportunity to get to know him.
