The House of Detroit Celebrates Grand Opening in Grand Rapids
The House of Detroit of Grand Rapids, located at 2234 28th Street, (near Breton Road), will be celebrating their Grand Opening on Saturday, February 27, 2021. The furniture store will be proudly unveiling its highly anticipated luxury furniture showroom.
With over One Hundred designs, The House of Detroit GR includes bedroom, dining, and living room furniture. Each of the pieces are made with distinguished artisan care, high quality materials and the latest generation production techniques. Drawing from years of customer service and a fashion background owner LeCretia Beurkens decided to test her talents in furniture by bringing luxury with practicality, and an exciting mix of styles.
"I actually franchised into this store in Grand Rapids with my friend. She is the owner of The House of Detroit in Royal Oak, MI and I am the owner of the store here in Grand Rapids," said Owner Lacrecia Beurkens.
"The House of Detroit was originally started in Detroit, MI in August of 2020 by Sylvia Thomas who wanted to share her passion of furniture with people," said Beurkens. "She was looking for furniture and couldn't find what she liked. She had to waited a long time for it to be delivered and had to put the furniture together herself, so she had a hard time getting what she wanted and needed. So she decided to get into the furniture business herself and her store opened last August and things have been amazing since then."
Lacrecia was laid off of work due to the pandemic and because she had just given birth, decided that she needed to get out of the house and do something productive.
"So Sylvia opened her store in August and since I have a background in customer service and in sales, I offered to help her and I ended up working with her and helping her get her first store up and running," she said. "A few months ago and opportunity for franchising was presented and I thought that maybe bringing the store to Grand Rapids or different city would be a good idea. We looked into it and I decided to jump on the first thing smoking. After I joined her team it became my passion as well. With the enormous amount of success at the first location, I wanted to be able to share this lavish showroom with my home town of Grand Rapids as well."
The store's furniture appeals to those between the ages of 25 to 45. The store does have a male audience but mostly caters to a female audience.
"The big seller for us has been beds and living room sets," said Lacrecia. "We sell bed room, dining and living room furniture. It is all contemporary, with very vibrant, pretty, bold colors. The price range of our furniture is from four hundred dollars up to three thousand dollars. We have great fabric and there are pieces that other people sell that look like our furniture, but the quality, material and our fabrics are amazing. We do have a lot of online orders because of our social media presence but we also have a good amount of foot traffic at the store in Royal Oak but it is mostly through social media. One thing that people should know and expect is that as long as we have it in stock, we have the fastest delivery times. At other furniture stores, some people are waiting three months or more for furniture to be delivered. So as long as we have it in stock, it is about a two week turn around time.
The House of Detroit GR will be hosting a ribbon cutting at 3 pm and a cocktail reception celebration immediately following until 6 pm.
The Grand Opening will also feature a raffle for a queen size Aiden velvet bed in Navy blue.
The store is known for its fast delivery times and free shopping nation wide.
