Mrs. Barbara K. (Frey) Robinson Celebration of Life
Mrs. Barbara K. (Frey) Robinson entered into a peaceful rest at age 79 on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at her home in Kentwood, MI, where she was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on March 7, 1942 in Springfield, TN to the union of Dorthus and Burena (Bass) Frey.
Barb attended Pearl High School in Nashville, TN. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was baptized.
In 1965, she moved to Grand Rapids, MI with her two daughters to start a new life.
She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, was a voluntary treasurer and a member of the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary 354.
Here first employment in Grand Rapids was with GRPS Vandenberg Elementary Schools as a teacher – librarian.
She later began a new journey working at Michigan Bell Phone Co. as a long distance operator. She then found work at the Kent County Juvenile Court System until her final vocation of 23 years working for Meijer grocery store until her retirement.
In 1968, Barbara married the love of her life, Michael James Robinson, her (Road Dog), as she often referred to him as. In this union they had one son, Michael James Robinson II; they now had three wonderful children. Barb was an awesome cook, baker, a hard worker and she adored her fashion and footwear which brought about her nickname, "shoe lady." She was a very loving wife, mother, neighborhood mother, grandmother and great grandmother, friend and strong willed yet sophisticated independent woman. She loved her family and life itself.
Barbara leaves to cherish, honor and respect her memories, her loving husband of 53 yrs, Michael James Robinson; two daughters , Kimberly (Jonathan) Forbes Sr. and Sonya Weeks; four grandkids, great grandkids, Rozell Jarrell Jr, Xyon Dilworth; an aunt, Sarah Robinson; sister friend's zmrs. Betty (Charles) DuBose, Jeanette (Herman) Brooks, and Mrs. Jackie (Willie) Beauregard; a host of cousins, friends and God children. She also leaves to remember her with love is her sisters-in-hrist Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Court 354 and a "Special Friend" Barbara Turner.
Barbara was preceded in death by her loving father and mother Mr. & Mrs. Frey, her loving son Michael James Robinson II, her loving motherin- law Mrs. Jean Robinson and loving Uncle Joseph Robinson.
