Pamela Sandra Bradshaw Chapman, 1948-2020

Pamela Sandra Bradshaw Chapman is being remembered as a devoted mother, sister, auntie and cousin, and as a faithful and devoted employee, church, volunteer and friend.

Pamela was born in Sanford, Florida and relocated with her parents when they moved the family to West Palm Beach, Florida. She was educated in Palm Beach County Schools, graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1966 where she was an outstanding majorette.

She was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church and remained a loyal and faithful parishioner until moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan.

In 1968, she came to Grand Rapids as a newlywed, married to Charles W. Chapman, Jr. (now deceased) who had relocated earlier from West Palm Beach. In 1972, the couple became parents to Sandra Michelle Chapman.

In 1969, Mrs. Chapman made her debut in community service as a charter member and vice- president of the Young Adult Club of the Grand Rapids Chapter of The National Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc. Throughout the years she could be found out and about across the city as a volunteer, willing to lend a helping hand.

Before being hired as Administrative Secretary and Office Manager at The Grand Rapids Times, she was employed at Old Kent Bank, Cisco Frost Pak, and as the founding Coordinator Director of Heart Reach, a program designed to promote healthy lifestyles among African American Women.

Pamela she was a faithful member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Grand Rapids, serving on numerous leadership bodies at every level of in volunteer and elected positions including: a deputy to the General Convention of the Episcopal Church, Senior Warden of her parish, President of Western Michigan Episcopal Church Women, as a Sunday School teacher, and as a member of several committees and councils.

She was sensitive to matters of equity and justice. "Pam was passionate about the work of anti - racism in the Church, having played a key role for years in diocesan anti-racism efforts." said Carole Redwine, Senior Warden at St, Philips's and a member of the Dismantling Racism Steering Committee.

Pamela Sandra Bradshaw Chapman was born August 11, 1948 and was called home by her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on December 18, 2020.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Olivia Bradshaw and her sister, Geneva Earline Bradshaw.

To continue celebrating her life are her loving and devoted daughter, Sandra Michelle Chapman; her loving brothers, Dr. Wilson Bradshaw (Jo Anna); Gregory Earl Bradshaw (Yvonne); her loving sister, Janice Bradshaw Ellis (Eshi); her devoted and loving companion, William Buck and her two former sisters- in - law, Dr. Patricia Pulliam, Grand Rapids, and Jacquelyn Pugh, Cutler Bay, Florida.

Also continuing to celebrate her life are many, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, great grand-nieces, great grand-nephews and many, many cousins and friends.

Cremation has taken placed and her cremains will be housed in her hometown.

Memorial services expected to take place in 2021 in West Palm Beach and in Grand Rapids.
