45 Crashes America's Birthday Party
When you have a birthday party, it's supposed to be about you. It's your day to shine and be the center of attention. It's not about your neighbor next door or the bus driver who takes your children to school. It should be about you!
If someone is trying to steal your thunder, it could be for any number of reasons — one being narcissism and ego. That is what took place this past July 4th in Washington D.C.
Giving a Presidential address from the mall, something that has not been done since 1951 when President Truman did it, President Trump made it be about him. President Truman gave his address to commemorate America's 175th birthday, not to stroke his ego.
The Washington Post editorial board gave this warning to Americans, "Do not be taken in by pomp and ceremony." They also said, "This is a gaudy display of military hardware that is more in keeping with a banana republic than the world's oldest democracy."
Of course, the Orange - had something to say. On July 2nd, he tweeted this: "Military leaders are thrilled to participate".
That's a lie, the military is not a prop to be used by this guy or anyone else for their self - aggrandizing agenda. This pimping of America's military prowess was not necessary to prove anything or to project pride. It was all a self - ego stroke for the Toddler - In - Chief. When you are the strongest dude on the block, you don't have to show it or announce it. You know it and those who live on that block with you, know it too! The military doesn't get involved in politics, their loyalty is to the Constitution, not a man!
Do you know what got this, "I want a parade to celebrate me too" attitude from little Donnie? Since that day in Paris on Bastille Day, July 14, 2017 the French National Day celebrating the storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789, he has wanted a parade.
This date is important to the French because on that date when the Bastille was over ran, it proved to be the turning point of the French Revolution.
The Bastille was a fortress in Paris used as a state prison by the Kings of France.
A little world history for you: It's not just the French parade that got little Donnie's ego stirred up, it's the May Day celebration of Russian military might with the missiles, tanks and troops on full display.
It's also the military displays of Kim jong Un of North Korea whom he fell in love with. That's so sweet, do you think they braid each other's hair?
Critics of this waste of money and improper use of the military were not silent in their condemnation of this fiasco.
Loren Dejonge Schulman, a Pentagon and White House official during the Obama years said this. "This is raw politicization. Trump's use of the military appears to be less about honoring the men and women serving in uniform than about trying to brag to and humor his political cronies." Rep. Betty McCollum (D-MN) said, "Mr. Trump is hijacking the celebration and twisting it into a taxpayer -funded, partisan political rally that's more about promoting a Trumpian cult of personality than the spirit of American independence and freedom."
One Democratic congresswoman said, "Most shameful of all is the fact that our military is being co-opted for a gratuitous display of strength by a commander in chief who relishes the attention of dictators and despots."
While the Pentagon has not issued an official over all estimate of the cost of this bush - league move, the Air Force submitted these numbers. It cost $122,311 an hour to fly the B - 2 bomber which is to make a trip from its base at Whiteman AFB in Missouri and back.
The cost of flying an F-22 fighter jet is $65,128 an hour, multiply that by at least six, this doesn't include security cost which this White House is in the hole for.
The Art of The Steal, still owes $7 Million from his inauguration expenses to the city of Washington D.C. which he hasn't paid yet. Plus, The- Stealer-In-Chief diverted $2.5 Million from the Parks Service to pay for his "It's about me T.V. Show", which does not cover the total expenses.
Crashing a party is never cool, crashing it so you can be the main focal point and center of attention is just wrong.
We are governed by a petulant child who needs his ego constantly stroked and longs to be a dictator if we the people allow it. His lack of knowledge regarding the history of this nation is mind boggling and scary.
He said the Continental Army "took over the airports" during the revolutionary war.
Really Donnie, airports in the 18th Century! And just so you know my dim - witted one, Fort McHenry was in regards to the War of 1812 not the Revolutionary War. Read a book!
We shouldn't be surprised by the self - honoring by this guy, he is what he is, a little insecure man who craves strength and power. A man who needs praise to feel validated in his existence because he is lacking in self-esteem and confidence.
So, play with your planes and tanks Donnie as you refer to them as "my military", but you've got it twisted, they are the country's military! You get you some Legos and play with those.
Meanwhile, we'll hope we can hang on as a country until you're out of the Oval. The 4th of July is not a military holiday, it is a day for the people, at least it used to be.
